We are glad to announce an agreement with the Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3) to help the development and maintenance of ARIES.

ARtificial Intelligence for Environment & Sustainability (ARIES)

ARIES is an intelligent modeler. Based on a simple user query, ARIES uses machine reasoning to resolve the best model with the information available in the system. ARIES' outputs are automatically generated and easily replicable by changing or adding a component (e.g. new data or a new model becomes available), and can greatly reduce the amount of work spent by a team or a company to generate (or update) results.

Technology

ARIES stack

ARIES is built on top of k.LAB, an open source technology stack that defines models, semantics and a web of knowledge. Users interact with the system via applications, e.g. k.Explorer, ARIES for SEEA, API. Our team has experience developing, maintaining and hosting cloud based applications with the technology stack used by ARIES.

Use cases

  • Impact Investment: The Leticia Platform a collaborative platform aimed to connect funders with sustainable investment opportunities. ARIES' underlying technology (k.LAB) allows to connect existing, web-accessible data and models and make them available online and seamlessly interoperable.
  • System of Environmental Economic Accounting (SEEA): The ARIES for SEEA Explorer application allows users anywhere in the world to produce rapid, standardized, scalable and customizable ecosystem accounts for their area of interest that are consistent with the SEEA Ecosystem Accounting framework.
  • Natural Capital Accounting: The BC3 team is using and testing ARIES with different countries South Africa, Senegal, Phillipines, Ghana, Rwanda, Unganda among others.
